For those folks who would like to camp out for Potomacfest, we have a campsite reserved with room for 60 people at the Mardsen Tract campsite. You can include camping reservations when you register via active.com.

Watch from your Boat this Year!

Last year, the Rangers were very unhappy about the number of people climbing over the railings to watch the falls race. I’m betting most of them were not paddlers…but to make sure we keep our permits, we promised to try to keep people off the rocks….So, if you have a boat and can paddle Class III…launch from Fishermans Eddy in Va or Sandy Beach (ferry across Fisherman’s ladder) and paddle up/carry up to the O-deck area for a great view of the race! Don’t forget to keep your pfd and helmet on at all times.

The Potomac Whitewater Festival is an annual fund raising event that celebrates the Potomac River.The festival's most dramatic and dazzling event is the Great Falls Race. This downriver race is a quick, adrenaline-packed descent of 60 vertical feet through the Potomac's spectacular class V+ Great Falls. Other festival events include freestyle and squirt boat competitions, beginner whitewater clinics, and much more.
